The small town of Benson owes much of its historical development to the railroad line which passed through town in 1886 on its route between Fayetteville and Contentnea. Today, Benson is located near the intersection of Interstates 95 and 40, still highlighting the town’s proximity for travel and transportation.

Benson, NC’s historic attractions include the Benson Museum of Local History, the Singing Grove Park, and a thriving downtown merchant community. Race fans flock to the town to see what's going down the track at GALOT Motorsports Park. Benson is the hometown of Drew Herring, the NASCAR Cup Series driver.

Benson’s downtown area is chockablock with charming shops, sweet treats, and things to do. Their new social district is accessible from Fainting Goat Brewing Company.
